FIBROIDS

Fibroids are tumours that grow in the uterus (womb). Made up of muscle fibre, they are non-cancerous and can vary dramatically in size - from the size of a pea to a melon.

Many women with fibroids experience no ill-effects or symptoms and therefore will not need treatment. Unfortunately, for other, fibroids can cause problems including heavy periods and pain.

Treatments offered by Dr Heron include using medication to shrink the fibroids or, where necessary, surgical removal.
