PROLAPSE: BLADDER OR UTERUS

Many women who have had children will experience some sort of ‘prolapse’ when they get older – of the uterus (womb) dropping into the vagina, or the bladder slipping out of position and bulging into the vaginal walls (also known as cystocoele).

Prolapses result when the muscles supporting these pelvic organs become weak – and childbirth is the most common cause. Symptoms include pain and discomfort, the frequent need to pass urine and a feeling of heaviness in the vaginal area.

Dr Heron has a number of treatments options depending on the severity of your prolapse. These procedures range from simple exercises to improve symptoms, to surgery in more serious cases.
