PELVIC FLOOR RECONSTRUCTION
Women who experience a significant pelvic floor prolapse that does not respond to conservative treatments may require their pelvic floor to be re-suspended or surgically-adjusted to restore normal vaginal, bladder and/or bowel function.
This procedure will involve a general anaesthetic and operation to correct the cause of the problem - pelvic floor relaxation or hernias. In some circumstances, permanent or semi-permanent material (often a biological graft) will be as a support or ‘scaffolding’ for the body’s tissues to grow into.
